Brunches for me are the time to unwind with delightful food, tempting drinks and leisurely conversation and most important of all these is a good company. This Sunday brunch at Doubletree Hilton was exactly one such occasion which I particularly enjoyed, not only because food was good but also for the fact that I had a good company of my food blogger friends to break my bread with.
This Sunday a bunch of food blogger friends at Delhi Sid Khullar, Parul, Charis Alfred Bhagianathan and Sangeeta Khanna met at cafe on 3 at doubletree Hilton.
When foodie friends meet what would they talk? Of course food, from militant non vegetarians to delicate Indian vegetarians, delights of any thing chocolates, talking lenses and photography, there was enough of stimulating conversation by the poolside.
Coming back to cafe on 3, A light and bright place overlooking pool area with a beautiful infinity pool in sight; it’s an ideal place to meet with friends or family to enjoy a multi cuisine menu which offers buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I started the meal with Shawarma from the Lebanese mezze and Mmmm nice start to a promising looking meal.
Proceeded to have a look at my favourite counter, yes salad bar and lo a nice spread of oh so delicious food was waiting there and I was ready to explore.
I had my fill of just a tiny bit of everything vegetarian and particularly liked roasted broccoli with a drizzle of vinaigrette.
My Favorites – Fruit and Cheese
Fruits and cheese counter, how can I leave this and move without savouring the pleasure of crisp fresh fruits with such a nice selection of cheeses, I just can’t resist the temptation to sample Camembert and smoked cheddar which was little too extra sharp, but tastes great and complements the sweetness of fruits.
Time to move outside to explore more buffet, click some more food pictures and explore other options. Outside there was this chat counter, with option of choosing between bhel puri, fruits chat or a papri chat, this small appam counter where I tried bit of appam with vegetarian stew, a bit why? because I wanted to try something else and that too without going overboard, I had fresh fruit for the breakfast so I could stretch my calorie budget for the lunch.
My camera had its fill by clicking such mouth-watering food 🙂 which is part of a la carte menu and served specially for our group by chef Thapa.
Food Glorious Food
After a break of almost half an hour, now was turn to move towards next course , On my plate this time it was roasted baby potatoes with herbs, pan seared polenta in tomato coulis cottage cheese steak and red kidney beans cutlet, all were exceptionally good except kidney bean cutlet which I found too dry for my taste.
Other non vegetarian fare included Grilled fish with butter caper sauce, Pan seared tenderloin steak and Braised lamb shank with star anise sauce among many others,
Indian fare included usual Arhar dal with rice just the way your Mom cooked at home, crisp butter nans and other flat breads as well as paneer do-pyaza, mutton and chicken preparations which I did not try for obvious reasons. My meat eating friend were going ga ga over Aleppy fish curry with appam.
Oriental menu featured Chicken with burnt chilli sauce and mixed vegetables with Sichuan sauce and fried rice and Hakka noodles etc, which I could not even taste as I was quite full by this time.
One has to save some space for that tempting looking dessert counter…Such are life drearies , I am sure I can see many grins here, when you are talking sweets how can you not smile 🙂
Can you get past this chocolate fountain without sampling fresh fruits, dry fruits , biscotti to dunk in molten chocolate, A treat enough to transport you to a foodie heaven, I had to take my fill even if I was to forgo my usual dinner in favour of soup and a small salad.
All in all a good day 4 hrs spent in good company and great food to match and Very decently priced at INR1100 plus taxes (without alcoholic beverages) and INR1300 plus taxes (with alcoholic beverages) per person the Sunday brunch buffet at cafe© on 3 is one of the best buffet options in the city.
