An easy method to make the best cappuccino without a machine. Frothy hot coffee without a machine is super easy to make and you can make it in minutes at your home. Here’s how I make frothy, hot cappuccino without a coffee machine or blender.

    Indian Phenti hui coffee

Not everyone has a coffee machine for various reasons. It is expensive and it takes a lot of counter space. But that does not mean one can not have a good cup of cappuccino at home.

So I thought to share with you my easy method to make good cappuccino in the comfort of your home and without a coffee machine. But if you have a milk frother that will take it to the next level. This is perfect for these lockdown days when most of us do not have access to cafes.

This coffee-making method is what we have been using in India for a long time even when having a coffee machine at home was not the norm.

I know many of you are still making the latest internet trend of Dalgona coffee. But if you are Indian you know we have been making that for years now. Most coffee houses in India used to serve this hot coffee and most of us know it by the name of Pheti hui coffee.

Restaurants and cafes served this phenti hui coffee and still do. But in regular Indian households who love to have coffee once in a while or occasionally they make this method of making frothy hot coffee without a coffee machine at home.

    What is Cappuccino?

The cappuccino was invented in Italy shortly after the popularization of the famous espresso machine. The word cappuccino is an Italian word which means ‘little cap’. And in Italy, a traditional cappuccino is one to two shots of espresso with layers of frothy milk.

Indian Coffee House Style Cappuccino or Phenti Hui Coffee

Most of us like to make phenti hui coffee at home. Phenti hui coffee or beaten coffee is made by beating coffee and sugar until it becomes light and creamy. When I make phenti hui coffee I usually whisk the coffee with a whisker. Sometimes, I even use a spoon if I am making coffee just for myself.  Most coffee houses in India still make Indian coffee house style coffee or phenti hui coffee.

    Ingredients for cappuccino recipe

For a yummy cup of hot coffee, you only need milk, sugar, and good quality Instant coffee.

If you have these three basic ingredients, you can make a good cappuccino at home. For flavor, you can also add chocolate powder or cinnamon powder.

The ratio of Coffee Sugar and Water for Making Cappuccino

Traditionally, a good cappuccino is a mixture of frothiness, milk, and espresso. It has a strong coffee flavor but not to the point of being bitter. The ratio of the ingredients to make the best cappuccino should be equal thirds of coffee, sugar, and milk.

This means the milk to coffee ratio should be ⅓ espresso, ⅓ steamed milk, ⅓ milk foam.

Since cappuccino is usually made with frothy milk, it passes the health factor. It can be considered healthy if you enjoy it with low-fat milk. Other types of coffee like latte and flat whites have higher calorie counts.

How To Make The Perfect Cappuccino - Step by Step

To make creamy cappuccino that has a frothy top, start by preparing the cappuccino cream. A good cappuccino mix is a must for a foamy and frothy top layer of cappuccino.

    Using Hands

In a big bowl add sugar, coffee powder, and water. With a whisk or a spoon start whisking the mixture. Whisk the coffee mixture until it becomes light. It will take time to whisk the mixture. Whisk it for around 10-12 minutes.

    Using Hand Blender or Whisk

If you have a blender or whisk then you can use that as well. It will take around 5-6 minutes when using a hand blender or whisk to make a light brew. Whisk until hard peaks of coffee are formed.
