Falafel and waffle, two of my favorite words in the same breath in this falafel waffle recipe, and that makes it one of my absolute favorite way to eat falafels. And this falafel waffle recipe is an adaptation taking inspiration from this popular middle eastern food falafels.
Falafel are a popular Middle Eastern/Mediterranean street food. It is often served with hummus and Tahini sauce. The taste of the falafel remains one of my favorite even till today. The other day when I was experimenting and we were having a recipe testing session in the studio, I tried to waffle the leftover waffle batter which came out so delicious that I feel these falafel waffle is moving to my Often Cook Food category now. How awesome is that 🙂

For this recipe I picked three of these products as major ingredient other than organic spices and oil from 24 Mantra. Organic chana dal, Kabuli Chana for falafel waffle and white sesame seeds for baba ganoush dip.
As I said in the beginning how I love falafel with some hummus and crave them often, another favorite way is to eat falafel with another classic mediterranean dip known as baba ganoush. Baba ganoush is silky smooth and smoky eggplant dip that tastes delicious and makes this more balanced as a meal.
Falafel waffles are already healthy source of proteins and complex carbs, combine that with this veggie dip and may be a salad to go along. You have got yourself an excellent meal which is tasty, healthy and super quick.
The meal for one is ready in 20 minutes as far as active cooking is involved, rest of the prep involves soaking chickpeas (kabuli chana) and horsegram dal (chana dal) roasting eggplant which can happen simultaneously when you are making waffles.
So you see cooking delicious food does not really take hours and hours of slogging in the kitchen, just bit of planning and thoughtful execution is all you need for whipping up delicious delightful food for yourself and the family.
