Matar mushroom recipe very popular Indian curry made with matar and mushroom in a delicious onion tomato curry base. This is also known as mushroom matar masala. A perfect mushroom gravy for Chapati or Naan.

On the few occasions when I eat out, such rich food as this restaurant style matar mushroom gravy is, only when the taste of food is exceptional ( as I like to say, any dish should justify the calories ) or if there is some interesting take on the recipe by Chef.

Mushrooms are high in protein and are gluten-free naturally. If you are following a vegetarian Keto Indian diet with few changes you can use this mushroom matar recipe. As usual, I try to make over the recipe by taking a middle path, so it retains the nutrition and holds same texture and taste without too much oily taste in the mouth. Vegetables stand out with their unique flavors rather than overpowering flavors of too many spices which usually confuse rather than adding flavors.

Matar mushroom sabzi is easily one of the most ordered dishes from the Indian restaurants. But just like most of the restaurant food, it has a very rich gravy and too much oil. I am usually very selective when eating food in the Indian restaurant.

Winters are the best season to enjoy the seasonal greens, It's the time when I really really love to go out especially for vegetable shopping. So many leafy greens to experiment with or make traditional Punjabi recipes like palak paneer, Sarson ka saag, aloo palak sabzi or dry curries with radish greens, too much to experiment with. Also green peas, unlike these days, until a few years ago fresh green peas were only the winter specials, time to enjoy aloo matar ( Potato and peas gravy ) sookhe matar ki sabzi ( dry green peas curry ).

Also green peas or matar, unlike these days, until a few years ago fresh green peas were only the winter specials, time to enjoy aloo matar ( Potato and peas gravy ) sookhe matar ki sabzi ( dry green peas curry ), hare matar ki kheer and so many more traditional Indian dishes.

With fresh green peas easily available now, when I was thinking something for my Everyday Indian series this popular matar mushroom recipe was one of the few choices for this Monday. I have given a slight makeover to this matar mushroom in a way that it retains the creamy texture and taste and looks exactly like Indian dhaba style matar mushroom recipe, but minus the unhealthy cream and calories from fat.

Matar mushroom curry recipe really can be put together if you have ingredients ( very less number of ingredients required for this) prepped and ready for next week ( You can read more about meal planning and preparation tips here ). Keep this bhuna masala ready in your refrigerator and I can guarantee you, that making curry will be the easiest of the things as far as your cooking powers go :).

    Healthy Bite

Mushrooms contain an important mineral selenium which is usually not present in most of the vegetables and fruits. Selenium also improves the immunity of body by stimulating the production of killer T-cells, also fights cancer producing cells and inhibits tumour growth.
