Pillsbury Rainbow Vanilla Idli Cake Sandwich is tasty idli cake that can be made in minutes when you have sudden dessert cravings. It makes an excellent treat for Kids lunch box.
Let’s face it we all love sweet treats and every time dessert craving strikes, you cannot prepare the dessert from scratch. Now, I don’t call myself a dessert person, but occasionally I like to eat a small serving of something sweet or a small slice of cake. But I am a lazy baker, so many a times, I rely on an in hand solution and of late Pillsbury cake mixes are my go-to solution when sudden dessert cravings strike and we need a quick treat 🙂
Talking about these treats, I am reminded of the new Pillsbury Rainbow Vanilla Idli Cake mix that I tried a few days ago when my nephew visited after a coaching session of cricket. Tired but very elated as he scored a half-century during a tough practice match. Since he was at my home it was time for a treat for him and he wanted nothing less than a cake. So I decided to surprise him with a delicious steamed idli cake which is super quick to make.
I had the choco-chip Idli cake mix and this rainbow vanilla idli cake. Since this guy is a vanilla fan, I picked the colorful Pillsbury rainbow vanilla variant. All it took me was 20 Minutes from start to finish and we had these gorgeous colorful idli shaped steamed cakes on the plate.
These looked great on their own but I decided to add my own personal touch and a little more indulgence in the form of add-ons.
I just added more colors to the rainbow and decorated a plate with candied peel (tutty fruity) which he loves and served them with few slices of kiwis.
All I needed to do was open the packet of Pillsbury Rainbow Vanilla Idli Cake mix, add milk and a little bit of oil. Mix these three things to a smooth batter, all in five minutes. Steaming the cakes took me another 10 minutes and within 15 minutes I had a colorful batch of idli cakes, all ready to devour.
While the cakes were steaming I sliced the fruit for filling and gathered things for a sandwich filling. I served half of the idli cakes just with some tutti fruity to make it more colorful.
The rest half of the idlis I decided to be little more indulgent and make idli sandwiches with a filling of chocolate spread, some whipped cream, and chopped fruits … needless to say that even adults in the family enjoyed them just as kiddo 😀
So whenever you are feeling to whip up a delightful surprise for kids or kids at heart you can effortlessly whip up these delicious and delightful steamed rainbow Idli cakes using Pillsbury Rainbow Vanilla idli mix.
