Whole wheat Pizza recipe from scratch, healthy, super easy perfect pizza crust, all in one. If you need a fail proof recipe that tastes good, I suggest you must try it. Hopefully this will be a good balance of choosing between all white flour or all wheat flour crust.
Pizza has become somewhat equivalent to indulgence, a convenience that we order when feeling lazy or in no mood to cook. Most of the time this indulgence comes with a tag of junk food. Generalising a particular food without giving a much thought stumps me. But coming back to our whole wheat veggie pizza, there is nothing unhealthy about it. Crust is homemade, and it is real deal made from scratch.
Now most of us who want to bake bread shy away because lot of kneading the dough is involved. I have been one of them too. After I got Total stand Mixer from Morphy Richards things are changing. One thing I am still to achieve is finding success with 100% wheat flour. I tried with Indian wheat but the crust was not as good. I finally found a balance at 65-35 ratio. In this recipe I used 65% wholewheat and 35% all purpose flour. I am experimenting with baking with different grains for baking bread. Also, cakes have become easier to bake, I am thinking of eggless cookies too.
Recipe Notes for HomeMade Pizza
- Knead the dough on slow to medium spread for 8-10 minutes. Try to knead it in spurts of 2 -3 minutes giving a break of one minute. This will give you a chewy crust.
- Once the dough is kneaded, rest it till it is doubled in size.
- After a rise, knead it for a minute to flatten it and then use it.
- Before topping it with pizza topping bake it for 10 minutes, after that use your favorite toppings and bake it as usual.
- You can make thin crust pizza or thick crust pizza as per your liking.
But if you think seriously most of the dishes/food can be made healthy or unhealthy depending upon ingredients you use and cooking methods you adopt. We were talking about pizza, yes why it has to be junk food Bread? Cheese? Sauce? Veggies? I do not think any of these as unhealthy choice.
Who said base is to baked with white flour, go for whole wheat pizza crust , make your own sauce { cook a batch and refrigerate it } and go crazy with your veggie toppings tossed in some pure olive oil use some good cheese to get the flavour but not too many calories. Tell me what's unhealthy about it? Now if you are convinced about making pizza at home, let me tell you there is nothing better than baking bread from scratch at home!

- 1.5 cups whole wheat flour
- 1.5 cups all purpose flour
- 1 Instant Dry Yeast
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon sugar
- Rosemary Olive Oil infused
- ½ cup water Luke warm
- pizza sauce Home made
- ½ cup green bell pepper diced
- 5-6 mushroom whole
- ½ cup mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup cheddar cheese cubed (5-6 small cubes)
