Jaljeera Recipe

Jaljeera is a refreshing and cooling drink from India which has digestive properties as well. So cool down in hot summers with this refreshing Jaljeera fizz.

Ingredients

For jal-jeera powder

  • 100 g Rock Salt Black
  • 25 g Cumin Seeds
  • 2 tablespoon Black Pepper corns whole
  • 3 Cardamoms Black
  • 5 Cloves whole

For 6 glasses you need

  • 2 tablespoon cilantro chopped leaves
  • 4 tablespoon mint leaves chopped
  • 2 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • mint leaves boondi Few and dry for garnish

Instructions

  • Jal jeera powder
  • Dry roast cumin seeds, black cardamoms and cloves till they are mildly fragrant i.e. about 1-2minutes.
  • When spices are cool, grind all of them together with black salt and store in an airtight container to use it later. This powder stores well at least for 6 months.

To serve it

  • Muddle cilantro and mint leaves in a muddler.
  • Fill your glass up to ¼ with crushed ice , pour ½ tablespoon of lemon juice over it add about ½ teaspoon of cilantro and mint crush over it and a teaspoon of jal jeera powder .
  • Top it up with either water or sparkling water/club soda and garnish with a few spearmint leaves.

Notes

Health Note
  1. Rock salt is anti-acidic, carminative and contains essential minerals for various physiological functions.
  2. Lemon is an excellent source of vitamin C, a great immunity booster and detoxifying agent.
  3. Cumin is good for respiratory disorders, helps in reliving insomnia and aids in digestion.
  4. Mint is known to inhibit the growth of different types of bacteria and fungus and digestive in nature.
