The Best Homemade Salsa Recipe! This fire roasted homemade Salsa is one of our family favourite recipes! It’s a perfect salsa to serve with tortilla chips or layer it on bread as a sandwich filling or topping for Mexican food, nachos platter, stuffing in burritos or even rice.

Ingredients

  • 3 Tomatoes Red Ripe
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 jalapeno pepper
  • 1 cloves of garlic optional, I did not use
  • 2 tablespoon lime juice
  • ¼ cup cilantro
  • ¼ teaspoon salt to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin

Instructions

  • Place a grill plate on the stove and place tomatoes, onion, jalapeno peppers and garlic(if using) on an open fire.
  • Once roasted on a slow fire, allow to cool slightly.
  • Remove charred part of the skin of tomatoes and onion
  • In a food processor add roasted and peeled tomatoes, onion, orange chillies for the heat, roasted jalapeno, lime juice, fresh cilantro and salt to taste.
  • Process till salsa has some texture. Do not over process.
  • Cover and refrigerate the salsa for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to develop.
  • Before serving, give the salsa a good stir and taste it again to adjust the seasoning, if necessary.
  • Serve with tortilla chips or corn chips or scoop over your favorite food as a topping.
