  • ¼ teaspoon Ceylon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice optional

Instructions

  • Heat the water until hot but not necessarily boiling.
  • Add the Ceylon cinnamon and stir well.
  • Let the mixture sit for 2 to 3 minutes so the cinnamon flavor infuses into the water.

  • Stir in the honey until dissolved.
  • Add fresh lemon juice if you like a brighter flavor.
  • Stir again and enjoy warm.

Notes

  1. Cinnamon: I recommend Ceylon cinnamon if you make the drink regularly. Cassia cinnamon can also be used occasionally in normal culinary amounts.
  2. Honey: Start with 1 teaspoon. You can use less if you prefer a less sweet drink.
  3. Texture: Ground cinnamon does not completely dissolve in water. Stir the drink again while drinking if some cinnamon settles at the bottom.
  4. Make ahead: Prepare the cinnamon water and refrigerate it for up to 2 days. Add the honey after reheating or just before serving.
  5. Important: Honey should never be given to babies younger than 12 months. This recipe is a food and beverage recipe, not a treatment for memory loss, dementia or any medical condition.
