This honey and cinnamon recipe is a simple 5-minute warm drink made with Ceylon cinnamon, honey and water. Enjoy it as part of a balanced breakfast while learning what research really says about honey, cinnamon and brain health.
Heat the water until hot but not necessarily boiling.
Add the Ceylon cinnamon and stir well.
Let the mixture sit for 2 to 3 minutes so the cinnamon flavor infuses into the water.
Allow the drink to cool until comfortably warm.
Stir in the honey until dissolved.
Add fresh lemon juice if you like a brighter flavor.
Stir again and enjoy warm.

Notes
Cinnamon: I recommend Ceylon cinnamon if you make the drink regularly. Cassia cinnamon can also be used occasionally in normal culinary amounts.
Honey: Start with 1 teaspoon. You can use less if you prefer a less sweet drink.
Texture: Ground cinnamon does not completely dissolve in water. Stir the drink again while drinking if some cinnamon settles at the bottom.
Make ahead: Prepare the cinnamon water and refrigerate it for up to 2 days. Add the honey after reheating or just before serving.
Important: Honey should never be given to babies younger than 12 months. This recipe is a food and beverage recipe, not a treatment for memory loss, dementia or any medical condition.
