How to Make Dalgona Coffee

Here’s how to make dalgona coffee at home with this easy recipe. You can make it with hand. No special equipment required. If you want to make it quicker I have included a method to make it with a hand mixer and milk frother.

  • Stick blender (Indian)


  • 2 tablespoon Instant Coffee
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoon hot water
  • 1.5 cup cold milk
  • Using hands


Dalgona coffee with hand whisk

  • In a big bowl, mix the coffee powder, sugar and water in 1:1:1 ratio. With a round whisk or a spoon start whisking. It takes time for the quantity I have mentioned. It took almost 12 minutes by hand.

With A blender or hand mixer

  • It takes 3-5 minutes until hard peaks of coffee are formed.

With Milk frother

  • I use it to make a single serving of coffee. It takes 2-3 minutes to make a foam. However, the quality of foam is not as good but it works!

To Make Dalgona coffee from Coffee foam

  • Next Fill ¾th of a cup or coffee glass with chilled milk and with a spoon pour whipped coffee foam over it. Serve it immediately.



For making Dalgona coffee Instant coffee powder is best.
For making Vegan or dairy free dalgona coffee you can use any dairy free milk of your choice. Nut milks, oats mil, rice milk and coconut milk are few choices as well.
Most important point to remember is right ratio of ingredients to make dalgona coffee. You need to use equal amount for all three ingredients for making coffee foam.
