Homemade Classic Cranberry Sauce Recipe

This homemade cranberry sauce is classic and one of the easiest cranberry sauce recipe ever. You can make this best cranberry sauce with fresh or frozen cranberries in minutes. This easy, make ahead sauce is perfect for Thanksgiving dinner or any times of the year.

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/3 cup Orange juice
  • 1/4 cup sugar more or less to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon powder

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the cranberries, water, and sugar. Stir until the sugar has dissolved and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  • Then simmer for 5-10 minutes or until cranberries start to burst .
  • Add the orange juice and cinnamon, stir to combine, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5-10 minutes or until most of the liquid has evaporated and the sauce is thickened.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving (it will thicken as it cools). Serve at room temperature or reheat in a small pan prior to serving if desired.
  • Serve the sauce with your favorite holiday dishes or store it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Enjoy!

Notes

Make Ahead Tip

To make this sauce ahead of time, allow it to cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container or jar and refrigerating until needed. It will keep for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator, but it also freezes well if you prefer not to use it right away. If frozen, thaw overnight in the refrigerator prior to using.
