A delicious pasta covered in creamy spinach pesto sauce is a family favourite in our home. It is a perfect summer pasta dish that comes together quickly. It is a great option for picnics, family gatherings or even a lunch box.
Also, this is a good way to feed green veggies to fussy eaters, kids as well as adults. Serve it with freshly toasted and buttered bread.

The Health Benefits of Eating Spinach
Spinach has many health benefits. It is rich in micronutrients, antioxidants, iron, vitamin C and A. A Few Well known benefits of eating spinach are better eye health, reducing blood pressure levels and in general, immunity-boosting.
Also, I have added a good amount of broccoli which has health benefits of its own.
Ingredients Required
Spinach: Fresh spinach leaves or frozen spinach both work. Fresh spinach gives it a better taste.
Broccoli: Fresh broccoli is best for this recipe. It gives a better texture. Do not use frozen broccoli.
Parmesan cheese: Fresh parmesan is the secret to this flavorful and creamy spinach pesto pasta.
Pasta: Any pasta shape is good. I have made it with an Instant pasta pack with fusilli pasta.
Seasonings: There are two options: Soup stock cube or use tastemaker that comes with Instant Pasta
Or
Mix Seasonings: Basil Leaves, Chilli flakes, Mixed herbs, Paprika, Black pepper
Extra virgin Olive oil
How to Make Spinach Pesto Pasta
To Make pesto
- Boil water in a pan and bring it to a boil.
- Add salt and then add broccoli cut into small florets and chopped spinach.
- Switch off the heat and allow the broccoli and spinach to blanch in hot water for 2-3 minutes.
- Now after draining, transfer the broccoli and spinach to ice-cold water.
- This step will make sure that both these vegetables retain their green colour and do not taste raw in pasta.
- Take these out of iced water and transfer Make pesto and keep this aside.
To Cook Pasta
- To cook pasta, heat water.
- Add pasta to the boiling water.
- If you are using a tastemaker that comes in an instant pasta pack add while cooking pasta.
- If you are not using instant pasta
- Cook for a few minutes till the pasta is done. Allow it to retain some liquid which will dry off later. Take the pan off from the heat.
- If you are using regular pasta you can use soup stock cube.
- If you do not want to use a tastemaker or soup stock cube you can add a mix of Chilli flakes, Mixed herbs, Paprika, Black pepper
- Now add green pesto. You can adjust the salt if you feel like adding more and mix them well.
- Serve this green spinach pasta with and enjoy the tasty pasta with a healthy twist.
