Falafel salad with Tahini is packed with amazing flavours. Crispy fresh vegetables and  falafel balls topped with fresh herbs and salty cheese makes a refreshing healthy lunch.

    Falafel salad

This easy falafel salad with Tahini dressing is vegan, and incredibly delicious. Enjoy these tasty falafel balls in salad that look like meatballs but are 100% vegan and vegetarian.

The salad is light, refreshing, and filling. This bowl of salad is a delicious combination of falafel, colourful veggies that are healthy and full of flavors, and earthy homemade Tahini dressing.

It is perfect for summer and hardly 10 minutes to put together if  already have the falafel mixture. In my case I always make some extra whenever I am making falafel or make an extra batch of falafels.

The best things about having these middle eastern chickpeas falafel is I can  make this falafel salad or falafel and pita sandwiches.

    Falafel salad Ingredients

You need to make falafel first or you can use pre-made store bought frozen falafel balls. I always make fresh at home so I am including the from the scratch method and ingredients to make falafel.

    Ingredients for making Falafel

    Chickpeas, parsley, coriander, and jalapenos.

Coriander powder, paprika, cumin powder, gram flour, salt, and red chili flakes.

    To make Falafel Salad

Lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, olives. Parsley, mint leaves, parmesan, and toasted pine nuts.

    Step by Step Method

    Falafel salad step 1

    • To make falafel, first wash and soak chickpeas overnight or for 6-7 hours.
    • Chop parsley, coriander, and jalapenos. Discard the seeds of jalapenos then chop them into pieces.
    • Place drained soaked chickpeas with chopped parsley, coriander, and jalapenos in the food processor.
    •  Then add some salt, coriander powder, paprika, cumin powder, gram flour, and red chili flakes.

    Falafel salad step 2

Cover and process at high speed (in pulse function) to make a coarse mixture.  The texture of the mixture should be coarse after grinding.

Shape falafels into balls and deep fry them for 3-4 minutes and then take them out and allow to cool.

To assemble salad, In a large bowl place lettuce, cucumber, sliced tomatoes, olives, and falafel balls. Then drizzle some Tahini on top with parsley, mint leaves, grated parmesan, and toasted pine nuts.

    Dressing for Falafel Salad

I have mentioned a few tips to make yogurt dressing for falafel salad in the recipe tips. Here I have dressed Falafel salad with Tahini. In taste, tahini has an earthy nutty flavor and resembles peanut butter.

If you want you can make a simple dressing of lime juice, olive oil, and salt too. Or you can enjoy your falafel salad with tzatziki dressing or with lemon garlic dressing to add that tanginess in your falafel salad.

A bowl of falafel salad calories equals 569 or 2381 kJ. So, if you fry the falafel in a healthy oil like olive or canola and reduce your fat intake for the day, then falafel is really good for health.

    Recipe Notes

    • If you want you can also pan-fry falafel or bake falafel and eat them every day.
    • You can make Falafel feta salad by following the same recipe and adding feta cheese cut in cubes.
    • Falafel mixture can be made in advance and keep in the refrigerator.
