Creamy Frothy Cold coffee is a perfect beverage for hot summers. With this easy to make the cold coffee recipe, you can make a perfect glass of chilled cafe-style frothy cold coffee at home in minutes. It's one of the best recipe to make iced coffee at home if I may say so.

Cafe style cold coffee with icecream

Hot summers and a chilled glass of frothy cold coffee or coffee milkshake isn’t that an ideal combination? The Best thing about this cold coffee recipe is you need just a few basic ingredients to make a perfect cold coffee and that too in the comfort of your home.

Well, that’s why I am sharing with you my easy recipe to make homemade cold coffee  with coffee foam at home.

You already know how to make the internet sensation Dalgona coffee . I have also shared how to make cappuccino without a machine or without beating it for hours. And now with this easy recipe, you can make cafe style cold coffee in minutes.

Difference between this Cold Coffee and Dalgona?

Cold coffee or cold coffee shake is made with frothy milk and coffee. Just like you make foam for dalgona coffee you need to make foam for this as well.

I know dalgona is the latest internet craze but this is only better because this is a combination of two of my favorites, Ice Cream, and Coffee. Which makes it even better right?

    Cafe Style Cold Coffee

There are usually three types of cold coffee. The cold coffee we order in cafes includes chocolate syrup and drinking chocolate. I have made this chilled coffee exactly like the ones you enjoy in cafes.

But, if you don’t have chocolate syrup or ice cream at the moment becuase of lockdown, you can still make delicious creamy cold coffee.

How to make frothy coffee at home

Cold coffee is popular because of its frothiness and strong flavor. To make frothy coffee at your home, start with making froth for your coffee. Take a jar, and add cold milk in the jar.

You can also add some ice cubes in the jar if you like. Keep the jar halfway full so that there is space to build foam. Now, put the lid on and shake the jar. Shake the jar until froth starts to form and doubles in volume.

You can also froth cold milk if you have a blender or a hand-held frother. A blender jet will help build volume to the foam. Froth the milk with the blender and quickly serve it.

    How To Make Cold Coffee

Cold coffee is easy to make a recipe that you can quickly make and enjoy. To make frothy cold coffee at home you need around 20 minutes. It is a great shake to enjoy in summers with family and friends. Cold coffee tastes so exotic that you can even serve them in parties or family gatherings. I usually like to make extra glasses of cold coffee and keep it in the fridge.

To enjoy frothy cold coffee it would be best if you use a hand blender while blending the brew. The hand blender helps in whisking the mixture of coffee and sugar until it is light and airy.

    Ingredients for Cold Coffee Recipe

For a yummy cup of cold coffee with ice cream, you only need sugar, milk, and good quality instant coffee. I have used a scoop of vanilla ice cream, you can use any ice cream flavor as per the availability. If you do not have any ice cream you can still make good cold coffee at home.

I have also added some chocolate sauce in the glass, you can swirl some chocolate sauce to make your cold coffee just like cafes.

The ratio of coffee, sugar, and water for cold coffee

People usually enjoy strong-flavored cold coffee. While this is a personal preference I like to keep the measurements in mind while making the brew for cold coffee. To make light, foamy cold coffee keeps the ratio of sugar, instant coffee, and milk equal thirds of each other. For example, for a glass of cold coffee, keep the ratio ⅓ to each ingredient.

How to Make Foamy Cold Coffee (step-by-step)

To make a chilled cup of cold coffee that is light and frothy, start with making the coffee brew first. The coffee brew is a mixture of coffee, sugar, and water made with beating it repeatedly.

Here I have used a hand blender. A hand blender will help to make the coffee mixture/brew light and frothy. This is the first step towards making a cafe-style cold coffee at home.

    Using Hands

Though I have used a hand blender to whip the coffee, sugar, and water mixture. If you don’t have any blender you can use a spoon as well. Whip the mixture repeatedly until the color changes from dark brown to light golden-ish color.  If you are using a spoon or a whisker then it takes you about 10-12 minutes to bring the brew to an airy consistency.

Using Hand Blender or Hand mixer

The hand blender does a good job to whisk the coffee mixture. In a big bowl blend the coffee, sugar, and water until the color of the mixture changes from dark brown to light brown color. You need to blend the mixture until you can see hard peaks of coffee.

If you have a hand mixer then you can also combine milk, sugar, and instant coffee and some ice cubes in it.

Blend the mixture until it becomes smooth, creamy, and frothy. Once you have made the mixture, keep it aside.

Keep the coffee foam or mix aside.

Take a glass and tilt it slightly. Now, swirl a spoon of chocolate syrup by rotating the glass slowly so that it makes random design in the glass.

Add the coffee mixture in the glass and then pour cold milk into it. Pour the cold milk slowly so that froth is made in the glass. Add ice cubes in the glass and mix it.

Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of the cold coffee. Finally, serve it with some more chocolate sauce on top.

    Watch Step by Step Video

To get the recipe step completely right is crucial for any recipe to come out perfectly. Especially if you are a beginner in cooking I suggest to watch the video below to get it right in first go.

Which Milk is best for frothing

Frothing can be obtained with your regular milk. But I like to use non-fat or skimmed milk to make cold coffee as they are light and make the best froth for cold coffee. But for the best coffee, you should use full-fat milk.

    Cold Coffee With Icecream

To make cold coffee with ice cream add your favorite ice cream flavor once you have poured milk and coffee brew in the cup. I have used a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

You can also use either of butter scotch or chocolate ice cream. You can also top it with some chocolate chips, here I have poured chocolate syrup for that extra flavor.

    Recipe Notes and Tips

    • Cold coffee tastes best with full-fat milk. It gives the cold shake just the right thickness and frothiness.
    • Use a blender or a whisker to blend the coffee mixture nicely to make it frothy
    • You can use cold pasteurised milk as well to make cold coffee at home.
    • If you want to make creamy cold coffee then instead of icecream you can also use whipped cream on top.
    • While blending milk, sugar, and coffee in a blending jar, if you like you and add a scoop of ice cream at that time as well. This makes the cold coffee creamy and frothy.
    • When using a blending jar you can add instant coffee directly with the milk and sugar. No need to blend it separately. This will also give you a yummy flavour.
    • You can also use powdered sugar instead of normal sugar for making cold coffee at home.
    • If you enjoy strong flavour then add a little bit extra instant coffee before blending it.

    How to Serve Cold Coffee

Cold coffee tastes best when served immediately after making it. You can add some chocolate chips on top of the cold coffee. To give it an extra oomph you can even make a waffle cone and rest it on top of your glass.

Then add a scoop of vanilla ice cream, some grated chocolate, and serve it with cookies.
