These Indian pancakes or savoury crepes made with mung dal (split yellow lentils) and basic spices and an option of paneer stuffing Moong dal ka chilla is one of the easiest breakfast recipes. A gluten-free, healthy, Low GI, protein packed vegetarian breakfast option.

These savory crepes are very easy to make if you have the batter ready at home. I usually prep for the breakfast night before and soak moong dal. Sometimes if i have time I grind it and keep the batter ready in the fridge.

So if you have moong dal cheela batter ready in your refrigerator, all you need is few minutes to cook a healthy breakfast for the family.

Moong Dal Cheela – Paneer Stuffed

Ingredients
  

To Make Moong Dal Batter

  • 2 cup moong dal yellow mung lentils
  • 10 gm ginger
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1-2 green chilies chopped
  • Coriander leaves chopped
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

Paneer stuffing for cheela

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 10 gm ginger chopped
  • 1 tsp green chilli
  • 3/4 tbsp Onion chopped
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Coriander leaves
  • 200 gm Paneer crumbled
  • 1 tsp pomegranate powder anardana
  • 1 tbsp Coriander leaves

Instructions
 

To make Batter for Moong Dal Cheela

  • Wash moong dal till water runs clear.
  • Soak dal for 2-3 hours. Overnight soaking in fridge is okay too.
  • After soaking drain out the water. In a grinder add inch piece of ginger, salt, green chillies, turmeric powder and ¼ cup of water and make a smooth paste.
  • Keep this paste aside.

To Make Paneer Stuffing for cheela

  • Heat I tsp oil in pan, Add chopped onion, green chilli, and ginger. Saute till onion turn translucent and pink.
  • Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt to taste.
  • Mix well and now add crumbled paneer and saute for 2 minutes on medium heat.
  • Add dry pomegranate powder and coriander to finish. Keep this paneer stuffing aside and make cheela.

To Make Moong Dal Cheela

  • Heat a griddle or cast iron skillet on medium heat. Add about teaspoon of oil/ghee to it and swirl to coat all sides of the pan. If you are using a non stick pan few drops of oil are enough.
  • Pour a ladle full of batter onto the pan and with the help of a ladle spread the batter into a circular shape from the center outwards.
  • Cook for 2-3 minute till its underside is browned and flip it and cook till the other side is golden too. Serve them as it is with chutney and dahi
  • For making Paneer stuffed moong dal cheela proceed till step 3 given above and now place two tablespoons of paneer stuffing we made earlier. Fold it into half and serve.
