So, I mostly keep these simple one pot meal recipes in my collections for such days. These do not take much time and effort, and still, you are able to cook up a healthy and tasty meal within no time.

Coming back to chana pulao, there are many chana pulao recipes. In my chana pulao recipe or as we like to call it choley Pulao recipe I added more flavor in form of Amritsari wadiyan. Amritasri wadiyan are spiced dried dumplings of Urad dal and lots of spices which are added to various dishes to add flavor and texture. We Punjabis simply love our Punjabi Wadi and Punjabi Papad. Which adds a special touch to any meal.
Amritsari wadiyan go very well with rice dishes, so I add them in my Pulao recipes quite often. If you want to make chana pulao without Wadiyan, you might like to try this Kala chana pulao which is lightly spiced and yet flavourful as I have used different ingredients for making that Kala chana pulao.
Usually, You don’t add turmeric powder in Pulao but in chana pulao, I like to add turmeric in the rice as it gives a beautiful hue and taste to this easy Veg Pulao recipe. In this easy Pulao recipe, I cooked long grained basmati rice along with cooked Kabuli chana, spices and amritsari wadi in a pressure cooker and completely healthy and wholesome meal is ready in almost 20 minutes.
You can make chana pulao without pressure cooker too and that will take you approximately 30 minutes. I will add the recipe of making pulao without the pressure cooker in next week.
As I said earlier this is also known as Choley Chawal pulao because in Punjabi cuisine choley chawal is a popular combination to serve and when you want to serve the chawal and choley combination is quick manner this easy chana pulao recipe is one of the excellent ways to serve. I usually serve it with a side of boondi raita and some Punjabi style mango pickle.
