Corn Bhel is a tangy and popular North Indian snack or appetizer. Also known as corn chaat this popular corn recipe can be made with both fresh or frozen corn. Tasty and quick snack, corn is a perfect monsoon food.

Here is a step-by-step picture and video of the tasty and easy corn bhel that you can make in less than 5 minutes.

    Corn Bhel Recipe

Indian food has a special place for quick and easy chaat recipes. And, this sweet corn recipe is both easy to cook and fancy enough to serve as a party appetizer. Corn bhel can also be served with sev puri or alongside corn fritters.

    What is Corn Bhel?

Corn bhel is a sweet corn snack made with fresh corn, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, and other spices. It has a spicy tangy and sweet flavor that tastes great when served with sev. I have served this sweet corn recipe with tamarind and green chutney. You can even sprinkle some chaat masala and sev puri.

Unlike other chaat recipes, Corn Bhel is actually a variation of the traditional Bhel Puri. Bhel Puri traditionally is made with puffed rice mixed with onions, potatoes, tomatoes, and few spices. If you like bhel puri, then you can try these easy different types of bhel recipes at home.

    How To Make Corn Bhel

    Corn Bhel Recipe

To make this easy chaat recipe we need simple corn chaat ingredients. I have used fresh American corn if you like you can use frozen corn too. To make corn bhel you need boiled corn, boiled potatoes, chopped onions, and tomatoes.

For spices, you need red chili powder, roasted cumin powder, pudina powder, black salt, and chaat masala.

Usually, for making corn bhel, we add sugar. This gives the chaat a pleasant flavor that compliments the spiciness of the chili. I like to serve corn bhel the traditional way.

So, often times I top it with sev, tamarind chutney, and green chutney. Whenever I serve corn snacks to the guest I add a packet of nachos as well. This makes this simple chaat a fancy appetizer.

To make tasty sweet corn recipes, it is important to select from the right sweet corn variety. The standard sweet corn varieties contain a special sugary gene that is responsible for the sweetness and creaminess of the corn. They are broadly divided into three parts, have great flavor and are easily available in malls.

    Corn Calories

Including corn kernels in your everyday diet will help you reduce weight. Sweet corn is loaded with fiber and plant compounds aids digestion and improves eye vision. If you like fresh corn recipes off the cob then do try this spicy Babycorn Mushroom Sabzi. Or you can pack some fresh boiled corn and eat them in between work.

    Other Corn Recipes

Bursting with crunchiness and just the right amount of sweetness, corn is home to many simple and easy recipes. Some of my favorite corn recipes loaded with Indian flavors are Corn fritters, Corn Aloo Tikki, Sweet corn soup and Tawa Mushroom baby corn sabzi , Bhutte ka Kees , Corn Pakoda

Though it's not made with fresh corns, but this cornflakes Mixture is another snack recipe that I recommend you to try.

    Recipe Notes

    • I have used boiled corn kernels, if you have canned corn then you can use them directly without boiling.
    • For Corn Bhel Salad, add cucumber in the bowl and mix them with onion and tomatoes. If you wish, you can switch boiled potatoes with tofu or paneer.
