    Viral Tiktok Grated egg toast recipe that is trending all over the internet. If you love eggs you must give this avocado and egg toast a try. To me, it tastes like heaven as it has three main ingredients Sourdough bread, avocado and of course grated hard-boiled eggs.


    At first, I tried grating hard-boiled eggs onto avocado toast because it was viral on Instagram reels. But now, I am hooked! And it looks like I am not alone.

    Thanks to the viral Tiktok video of grated egg avocado toast everyone is now grating boiled eggs on their toast.


    This delicious grated egg avocado toast is a perfect upgrade for regular avocado toast. Packed with good fats, proteins this is a good breakfast recipe that you can eat for dinner or lunch.


    The technique of grating eggs over dishes is not new Russians grate eggs over salad and stir-fries. French people use shaved eggs in certain dishes too. I have never tried this before fluffy grated eggs on avocado toast sounded like a pretty good idea.

    What is different About this Avocado and Egg toast?

    We have had avocado toast with egg before. Right? Then what’s different about these grated eggs and toast? Well, the way hard-boiled egg looks and taste because of that fluffy texture.

    To begin with, grated eggs look like a mountain of cheese and the toast looks super fancy and it does not stop here. The creamy avocado and toasted rustic bread complement the texture of fluffy eggs perfectly.

    Grated egg toast is delicious and super easy to prepare with only five simple ingredients. I'm fairly certain you'll have everything on hand as well. The recipe is super versatile with tonnes of customisation options. Do give this a try and you will know 🙂

    Why do we love this recipe?

    Ingredients

    • Bread: Sourdough Bread, multigrain bread or wholewheat bread.  
    • Butter: I have used salted butter if you have unsalted butter that works fine too.
    • Avocado:  For each piece of toast, use half of a small avocado. 
    • Eggs: I prefer to use organic or free-range eggs for health reasons. Go for regular ones if that’s what you want to use.   
    • Sauce: Drizzle a few drops of tabasco over the egg. This gives a little zing to the dish, and it's delicious. You can use any other hot sauce or simply ketchup.
    • Seasonings: Season the toast with red chilli flakes, sea salt and sesame seeds for another layer of texture and flavour.

    How to Make Grated Egg Toast?

    1. Toast a slice of sourdough or any other bread of choice. I toasted the bread in a pan or you can simply toast bread in a toaster and apply a thin layer of butter. 
    2. Place half a sliced avocado and spread it evenly on the toasted bread. 
    3. Now grate the hard-boiled egg on the top of the avocado using a microplane grater. 
    4. Season With Salt, Red Chilli Flakes And Dollops Of Tabasco, if desired. 
    5. That’s it! It’s done. Dig in and Enjoy!

    Recipe notes

    1. I have shared how to perfectly hard boil eggs in a pan or Instant pot. You can use those methods for making perfectly boiled eggs that peel easily each time. 
    2. Careful while grating, eggs are soft and you might wanna be extra careful with your hands.
    3. Make sure you choose a solid bread that toasts well for this dish. Multigrain bread/ white bread/brown bread/ French bread, or even sourdough would all be excellent choices. 
    4. Make sure the avocado is thinly sliced or you can use mashed avocado as per your preference.
    5. One hardboiled egg per slice will be used. Using a microplane grater, shred it gently. The egg will be placed on top of the avocado.

    Substitutions

    • Bread: I have used sourdough bread but feel free to use any other bread that you prefer. Multigrain bread, milk bread, garlic bread or gluten-free seeded bread are a few other options.
    • Butter: Original recipe uses mayonnaise. But I have replaced that with butter you can use mayonnaise if you prefer that. 

    Variations

    • Cheesy addition: This recipe tastes delicious as it is but you wanna make it super rich and creamy, feel free to top it off with some grated cheese. There's a variety of cheese available such as mozzarella/gouda/lactose-free cheese. 
    • More veggies: you can never go wrong with more veggies and mushrooms. Feel free to top the grated egg toast with sauteed spinach or mushrooms. Sliced tomato or bell peppers.
    • chicken/tofu: you can even dice in pieces of chicken/tofu/cottage cheese as an extra addition to this viral TikTok grated egg avocado toast.
    • You can try any of the above variations but personally, I prefer the original and like to keep it simple and super fast.

    Serving Suggestions

    Garnish the TikTok grated egg and avocado toast with a pinch of salt and pepper and some red chilli flakes. Serve it with a dollop of tabasco/sriracha/ketchup and enjoy a whole and hearty breakfast. 

    Storing the Leftovers

    Grated egg avocado toast doesn't keep well in the refrigerator so it's advised to make it fresh. Making it fresh is a better job since it's super easy to make and takes only a few minutes and it requires only a few ingredients. So make it when you crave it.
