    Why We Love This Recipe

    • This is a quick and easy breakfast in10 minutes.
    • You can make it using minimal ingredients and pantry staple.
    • You can make them ahead of time as these are good for reheating.
    • Cinnamon gives it a warm flavour and adds healthy benefits.
    • Cylone cinnamon in this helps in regulating blood sugar spike and slowing it down.

    French Toast Ingredients

All the ingredients used in making french toast are easily available and pantry staples.

    • Eggs- You can use either white eggs or brown eggs. I have used free range organic eggs.
    • Granulated sugar- Brown sugar or white sugar both can be used.I have used white sugar.
    • Cinnamon powder- I have used ceylon cinnamon powder which is known for its health benefits. This also helps to prevent blood sugar spike after consuming sugar.
    • Milk- Any dairy or non dairy milk can be used. I have used regular 2% milk.
    • Bread- I have used white milk bread. Given a choice I use brioche bread for french toast but I had milk bread at hand so I used that.
    • Butter-Unsalted butter to be used.
    • Syrup- This is completely optional but it enhances the taste. You can use either pancake syrup, maple syrup or honey.

    How to Make French Toast?

French toast is a dish made of bread soaked in a mixture of beaten eggs, milk and sugar. Batter coated bread is fried in a pan to crispy golden perfection and topped with syrup.

    Here’s how to make it:

Cinnamon French toast with Maple syrup

Cut bread loaf into thick slices. Or use thick-sliced bread.

In a bowl Add eggs, granulated sugar, milk and cinnamon powder.

Blend this mixture using a hand whisk. Keep it aside.

On the other side, take a pan and heat butter on it.

Meanwhile, soak the bread properly into a beaten mixture.

Now put it on a pan and fry both sides for 3-4 mins until golden brown and crisps.

Dish out on a plate and serve with honey syrup or nuts on top of it.

    Recipe Notes & Tips

Here are a few tips to make the best french toast recipe.

    • Fry the batter coated bread always on low flame. Cooking on high flame will burn the crust and it will not cook from inside.
    • Try to use thick bread slices. Thinly sliced bread gets soggy and breaks when you dip it in the batter.
    • To make the crust crispy you can add 1 tablespoon of cornflour.

    Substitutions

You can switch a few ingredients if you are following a particular diet or change up any ingredients.

    • Bread-  Instead of regular bread gluten free or brown bread can also be used.
    • Few drops of vanilla extract will enhance the taste but it's totally optional.
    • Milk- Any non-dairy milk like almond or oat milk can be used.
    • Butter-You can fry it in ghee also of the same amount.
    • Sugar- You can use brown sugar or stevia.

    Storage

You can freeze leftover french toast in aluminium foil and freeze it upto 1 month. To serve it, reheat it wrapped in a paper towel in the microwave or pop it into an oven toaster on low temperature and enjoy.

    Serving Suggestions

To make it more healthy and heavy it can be served with honey on You can also top it with fruits or nuts, vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup.
